Gold extended its rally last week, driven by growing expectations of US interest rate cuts in 2026, rather than short-term speculation.

When markets price in lower rates, two things tend to follow:

• The US Dollar weakens, supporting USD-denominated assets

• Non-yielding assets like Gold become more attractive as the opportunity cost of holding them falls

This backdrop explains why Gold finished 2025 up around 65%, its strongest annual performance in decades.

However, the signal has become more nuanced.

Despite the strong trend, upside momentum is slowing.

Profit-taking and higher margin requirements are forcing traders to reduce exposure, leading to sharp advances followed by quick pullbacks.

This tells us Gold isn’t trending impulsively.

It’s rotating around key price levels, rewarding patience and structure over prediction.

For investors and traders alike, this week isn’t about calling new highs.
